Part 6- Revision

Picture
Now it's time to:

  • Find your Title
  • Revise your Monologue
Revision: to see again, or in a new way.
  • Finding My Title
  • Revision Time
<
>
If you haven’t titled it yet, it’s time for you to find a title for your first draft
In order to make this easy, I’ve created a 2-part resource for you to use to help you find your title.

Download Guide as a PDF

Finding a title isn’t always easy, but if you follow at least one of these two methods, I guarantee you’ll find a title for your work!
Now, move on to the "Revision Time" Tab!

Put on your Critic Hat

Now that your draft is complete and you have a title, let’s get into revision time

This is not to say that there is anything wrong with your monologue.  This is not a matter of right and wrong! This is a matter of making the best choice for each moment in your monologue.

Read through your monologue as if for the first time, and evaluate it for everything on the guide below which you can view on Google Docs or download as a PDF:

If there’s anything in this list which you didn’t include in your first draft, now is the time for you to go back and add or rewrite parts of it to make it as dynamic as possible!
If you like your monologue exactly as it is in this first draft, you can decide not to change anything about it.  This is your monologue, and you should be in control of it.
If you want me to read through your monologue and offer questions and comments via a google doc,  click the blue “Share” button in the upper right hand corner:

Type in “steve@phillyyoungplaywrights.org” where it says Share

Give me 48 hours to respond to your monologue…  I will happily respond to your work!
Once you’ve evaluated your own monologue, and, if you wish, shared it with me, and it’s exactly the way you want it to be, it’s time to share your work!
