2023 Annual Playwriting Festival
Philadelphia Young Playwrights is currently accepting play submissions from students in grades K-12 for the 2023 Annual Playwriting Festival! To submit your play, please follow the instructions below.

DEADLINE: May 19, 2023
- The choice of subject is up to you.
- You may submit more than one play (submission instructions below).
- Scripts must be in Standard American format. Scroll down to download the Style Sheet.
- Scripts submitted to previous Young Playwrights’ Festivals are not eligible without significant revision.
- Scripts must be entirely written by one or more people who are under the age of 19 or in grades K-12 at the time of submission.
- We accept submissions from Eastern Pennsylvania, Southern New Jersey, or Delaware, or from any student who has participated in one of our classes in the 2022-2023 school year.
- Monologues and screenplays are not eligible, nor are adaptations of other authors’ works. To submit a monologue to our monologue festival, please click here.

To submit ELECTRONICALLY (preferred):
- FIRST, save your play as a Microsoft Word Document (saved as .doc) or with the name of the document as School, Grade, Play Title, Author Last Name. (Adobe PDF Documents .PDF are also acceptable)
- OR provide a Google Doc link to your play.

- THEN fill out an Electronic Submission form by clicking HERE.
- Once you have uploaded your play, you will receive a confirmation email. Please review your submission info to make sure you have entered everything correctly!
If you have to submit via HARD COPY:
IMPORTANT: Plays with incomplete cover sheets will NOT be considered for production opportunities, as we are unable to contact students directly.
• Scripts must be postmarked no later than May 19, 2023.

- Scripts must be typed in an easily legible font, page numbered and stapled with just one staple on the upper left side.
- Submit 1 copy of your play with cover sheet attached. Keep the original at home, because scripts will not be returned. Note: We strongly encourage you to save an electronic copy of your script.
- Please download the official cover sheet and fill out completely. Note: An official cover sheet is required for hard copy submission.
