Become a Philadelphia Young Playwrights Board Member!
Philadelphia Young Playwrights seeks new members for consideration to join the Philadelphia Young Playwrights Board of Directors.
Seeking applicants with an interest in: celebrating student voices, the future and innovation of Philadelphia Young Playwrights (PYP) programming, financial oversight, sharing their personal and professional expertise for the future and betterment of PYP, and increasing the visibility of the organization. All applicants are welcome.
Board members are expected to have an interest in playwriting, literacy, and arts education, and a commitment to endorse and support the mission and vision of Philadelphia Young Playwrights.
The Board of Directors:
- Serves as a fiduciary for Philadelphia Young Playwrights.
- Monitors Philadelphia Young Playwrights vision and mission
- Advocates Philadelphia Young Playwrights mission in the community
- Appoints and evaluates Philadelphia Young Playwrights Executive Director
- Provides consulting in the areas of personal and professional expertise
- Maintains the confidentiality of information received
- Ensures that Philadelphia Young Playwrights operates within its bylaws
Duties include:
- Preparing for, attending, and participating in bi-monthly meetings of the Board.
- Actively participating via membership on at least one board committee
- Supporting staff with fundraising events / promoting and advocating for fundraising initiatives
- Making a personal gift to Philadelphia Young Playwrights of $1,000 or above yearly
- Leveraging support from others through the organization’s fundraising efforts
- Participating in the identification and recruitment of potential new board members
