On June 3, 2011 four eight grade classrooms from Independence Charter School presented scenes from the plays they’ve been writing in Philadelphia Young Playwrights workshops. Teacher Julie Lenard and Teaching Artists Justin Jain and Aime Kelly worked with the eight graders all year long and then the students produced, directed, performed and designed select scenes from their finished works in this mini-festival. It was presented to a large crowd of eight and seventh graders as well as parents, teachers and supporters in the Levitt Auditorium at the Gershman Y on Broad Street.
