What is a monologue? How do I make one?
A monologue is one speaker speaking to a specific listener. This speaker should be at a moment of crisis, and they should experience some kind of change |
A monologue is a speech given by one person, approximately 1-3 pages, and meant to be performed in front of an audience in approximately 3-6 minutes |
You might be thinking: Where do I start? How do I know what to write about? How can I possibly turn my ideas into a monologue? I’ve never even read one! |
Our monologue writing process will go like this:
1 You’ll read some excellent monologues written by students just like you |
2 You’ll learn about what the best monologues all have in common |
3 You’ll practice writing monologues until you’re comfortable with them |
4 You’ll brainstorm ideas for what you want to write your monologue about |
5 You’ll write a first draft of a classic monologue |
6 You’ll revise your first draft of your monologue |
7 Once you have a final draft, I’ll give you instructions on how to have your monologue read in a virtual space so you can hear it out loud! |
