Annette John-Hall has been a journalist for 40 years. Most recently, she was a host and producer at WHYY, the NPR member station in Philadelphia.

Before tackling broadcast journalism, Annette spent over 30 years as a print journalist in Oakland, Denver, San Jose and Philadelphia. At the Philadelphia Inquirer, she was an award-winning metro columnist who sat down with President Obama, asked Allen Iverson about his cornrows, did verbal battle with former Fox News pundit Bill O’Reilly, and ate sweet potato pie with civil rights icon John Lewis.

Annette also helped build a successful writing program for the Philadelphia nonprofit Mighty Writers and promoted accessible higher education at Community College of Philadelphia before returning to journalism in 2017.

Annette holds a journalism degree from San Francisco State University. She is a native of Berkeley, CA.
