Come join Philadelphia Young Playwrights at the Philadelphia Museum of Art's Surrealism exhibit, where over four Saturdays we'll transform the paintings into monologues that will then be performed by professional actors, bringing your interpretations to life!
WHO: Students in grades 7-12. This program is for playwrights of all experiences and skill levels!

Playwriting

A creative space for writers, theater-makers, and artists of all kinds to dive into the art of playwriting. Working from first idea through to a first draft in just 6 weeks, by the end of the program playwrights will have the skills they need to join our advanced cohort of Resident Playwrights.
WHO: Students in grades 7-12. This is a program for beginner and intermediate playwrights.

Four FREE full-day play-making workshops! Join PYP to brainstorm, improvise, write, design, direct, and perform a play, all in one day! Each workshop will be focused on a different question, with each day standing independently, though we encourage you to sign up for all four.

Celebrating drawing as a form of storytelling and a way into writing a play, this workshop guides students through the process of creating a story from beginning to end, developing character, plot, and conflict, and presenting their story in sequence with storyboard panels.
Workshops take place at Libraries all over Philadelphia, with programs catering to elementary school students teens, and all ages. |
