Young Playwrights appreciates the involvement of the community. Our volunteers have the opportunity to help build something they believe in, acquire new skills, forge new relationships, and create or enhance meaningful opportunities for student playwrights. :: Production Ushers Our productions of student plays always benefit from friendly volunteers who assist the theatre audience. Ushers distribute programs, help ticket-holders find their seats, and help coordinate receptions and refreshments. :: Office Assistants Like many nonprofit organizations, Young Playwrights relies on organized volunteers to assist with office tasks such as mailings and filing. Unique to Young Playwrights is the administration of our Annual Playwriting Festival - volunteers are essential to coordinating data collection from and distribution of up to 1,000 scripts to our Literary Committee! :: Literary Committee Members The most remarkable aspect of our Annual Playwriting Festival is that every student who submits a play receives a constructive summary of comments by two or more readers of the script. Each year, Literary Committee members read and respond to students’ work, helping them improve their writing skills and inspiring them to keep writing. :: Board Committee Members Currently, Young Playwrights’ Board of Directors has three committees open to volunteer participation: Finance, Fundraising, and Arts and Education. Committee members assist in fundraising campaigns, public relations efforts, and program evaluation and design. :: Board Members Our highest level of volunteer participation, our Board of Directors offers volunteers the opportunity to assume key roles in the development and oversight of the organization. Board Members ensure organizational continuity, set organizational policy, carry out long-range planning, ensure fiscal accountability and help fund the organization.
